When The Mourlot Studio opened a branch in New York City, after a successful exhibition organized by the Smithsonian Institute in 1963, it commissioned several famous International artists to create a series of original Lithographic posters to celebrate the event. Some of the artists asked to create original images were Calder, Miro, Max Ernst and Estève.

Maurice Estève created this original lithograph in 1970 as this poster version, but also as a signed and numbered edition. He was known for his lyrical experiments with colorful interwoven forms and merged his love of art history with abstraction. He said of his work:  “I never use a sketch, I paint directly on the canvas, without a preparatory drawing. Each work is a series of transformations.”

Each individual work of art comes with a Certificate of Provenance, signed, dated, stamped, and numbered by Eric Mourlot. Stored in a clear protective sleeve accompanying your piece, this Certificate of Provenance is recognized by all the major auction houses should you care to resell at any point. This ensures the validity of its origin and its being in the Mourlot archives since its production.
